A major conference on Heritage and Public Value will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 25th and 26th January 2006.
Heritage is important to different people in different ways, but how do we capture that value and what happens when the values of the public and experts collide?
The conference will be chaired by Nick Higham, and speakers will include the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, as well as the cultural economist David Throsby, World Heritage expert Christina Cameron, and many others. The first day will focus on the idea of Public Value, and what the public think; the second day will be about what a values-based approach means for heritage organisations.
The conference will be vital for any one involved in natural or cultural heritage or conservation, whether as a policy-maker or practitioner.
We have endeavoured to keep the delegate rate as low as possible in order that the conference is accessible to as many people as possible. There are, however, a limited number of bursaries available for voluntary organisations and university researchers. If you would like to apply for one of these places please contact the conference organisers by 20 December.
